Sacred Heart Major Seminary Classes

Have you ever wanted to be able to better explain the Catholic faith, or enrich your

knowledge of why we believe what we believe?  Sacred Heart Major Seminary is now offering a two-credit Introduction to Theology course this coming fall, on-site, at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish.  Covering the major doctrines of the Church, the course will be held Thursday evenings,  7 - 9pm from September 9th - December 16th.  Credits can be applied toward catechetical certification or other pastoral programs or degrees.

An admissions representative will be at St. Therese on June 13th from 10:30am - 1pm to take applications and conduct interviews.  For more information, please contact the admissions office at Sacred Heart Major Seminary at 313-883-8520 or email fromm.tamra@shms.edu.

19th Annual Parish Picnic

August 1st from 12:30 - 5:00pm

Our picnic will be held at the Croatian Park on 22 Mile Road.  The theme this year is "A Patriotic Event" and will be an enjoyable time for the whole family.  The festivities will include food, music, games for all ages, a cakewalk, fellowship and fun.  Also, a golf challenge and horseshoe contest with prizes will be held.

We need many volunteers.  The sign up will be after all Masses on July 17/18 and July 24/25.  We have four major categories for volunteers: set up, working at events during the picnic, kids games and clean up.  We need your help!  Please consider signing up to help support our picnic.

McRest Week: August 15th, 2010

During the weekends of July 31/August 1  and August 7/8, please sign up to volunteer for McRest.  The areas where help is needed are: transportation, set-up or take-down, activities, laundry, cooking (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and supervision.  We also ask that parishioners take a fruit tag from the trees in the Gathering Space and return the item on the designated day and time.

We need many volunteers.  Anyone who volunteers for a time slot will have a chance at a free entry for a  foursome at the McRest Golf Outing scheduled for August 14th.  This drawing will be held after Mass on August 8th.  Winning tickets are not transferable.

However you can assist with our McRest week will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance for all that you do to help with our McRest guests.

"...whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."   Matthew 25:40B

8th Annual St. Therese Golf Outing

Sunday, September 26th, 2010  1:30pm

Mark your calendars!  This event will take place at Cracklewood Golf Course and is open to everyone - family, friends, neighbors, co-works - you do not have to be a parishioner to participate.  Watch up-coming issues of the church paper, or the website for details.

Having trouble hearing?
As part of our continuing effort to assist those people with disabilities, St. Therese of Lisieux has recently installed an induction loop hearing system in a section of the worship area in church. If you have a telecoil (t-coil) position on your hearing aid or have a cochlear implant, the hearing loop system will greatly improve your hearing by transmitting sounds directly to your hearing aid or cochlear implant by acting as a personal amplifier and creating perfect, undistorted sound. The location of the loop is in the pew section directly to the left of the baptismal font and continuing towards the front. If you are unsure where it is, one of the ushers can help you. Please tell your relatives and friends about this new technology at St. Therese of Lisieux for those with hearing loss. In addition to the loop system, we also have SoundMate with 3 receivers available and

Personal FM radio tuned to 90.5.

St. Therese Facebook

St. Therese of Lisieux has its own Facebook site.  Become a fan/friend and we will keep you posted of current news feeds from the parish.  We hope to have 1000 St. Therese Facebook friends by May 1st!  If you do not have a Facebook account, there is no cost to join - just go to www.facebook.com and sign up.  If you already have a Facebook account, search for St. Therese of Lisieux and become a fan!
